My Workdays at Home with My Westie: Days Full of Barks, Snoozes, and Chew Time!

Working from home presents a unique blend of joy and chaos, especially with my lively West Highland Terrier, Nellie, by my side. From our wild morning walks to her strategic naps, my days are filled with laughter, mischief, and a touch of madness. Let me take you through my daily escapades, showcasing how a pet with her own quirky personality can transform a work-from-home experience!

The Morning Walk Challenge

Ah, the morning walk—a beloved routine that still challenges my skills. Nellie possesses an incredible enthusiasm when we step outside, as if she’s been waiting all night to unleash her energy. She pulls on the leash, barking at every OAP or Wheelie Bin in sight

Our walks often resemble a snail paced obstacle course rather than a peaceful stroll. But stepping outdoors with Nellie brings a "refreshing" start to the day. While I might return home a bit frazzled and without doubt burnt less calories on the actual walk than I did getting ready for the walk, Nellie's exuberance sets a cheerful tone for my workday.

The Ultimate Snooze Buddy

Back home, Nellie transitions from her energetic self to a dedicated nap champion. This dog can sleep. She has claimed the window ledge infront of my desk as her favorite nap zone. There she perches, watching the world go by, then she slumps into dreamland, perhaps imagining chasing elusive squirrels or a nesting pigeon.

Her rhythmic breathing provides a comforting backdrop during my work calls or when I’m focused on reports. Nellie’s presence reminds me daily of the crucial balance between work and relaxation.

Lunchtime = Nellie’s Time

As noon approaches, Nellie demonstrates an impressive ability to sense when it’s lunchtime. It’s as if she carries an internal clock! Her eager gaze at my feet compel me to shift my attention from work and become the glorified dog butler i was born to be

To be fair having lunch with Nellie by my side transforms a mundane affair into a joyful occasion. We both like wafer thin ham which is a bonus, shes not too keen on salad cream though so we dont share sandwiches

The Chew Time Signals

Perhaps the most charming aspect of my workday centers on Nellie’s cleverly designed signals for snack time. When she’s ready for a chew treat, she hops up and taps my chair with her paw—a clear message that I can’t ignore! .

Embrace the Craziness

In the whirlwind of my workdays at home, Nellie enriches my life with laughter, love, and a sprinkle of chaos. From our humorous walks to her snoozes and rhythmic chew time alerts, she turns every day into an adventure.

For those working from home with pets, embrace the moments of unpredictability! It's not solely about checking off tasks; it involves participating in shared laughter and surprise. Who wouldn't want a fluffy companion like Nellie to bring joy and warmth into their daily routines?
